CL’s First Ever Online Editor: Introducing Karen!

Most likely, you haven’t noticed a major change here on Craft Leftovers this past month. No one notices when there are no glaring spelling and grammar errors. But, I’m sure in the past you have been slapped in the face while reading a CL post with a horrifically spelled word or phrased sentence.

Let me introduce you to:

Karen: I’m a stay-at-home mom to three boys, ages 7, 4 and 2. My husband and I grew up in southern California and now call Boston our home. I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t create. As little girl, I used to make clothes for my stuffed animals from my mom’s scrap pile. I’ve tried a lot of different crafts since then: origami, scrapbooking, knitting, crochet, painting, making greeting cards, soap and candles. The one thing I keep coming back to is sewing. I love taking an idea in my head and making it come to life. Currently, I’m selling some of my handcrafted items in my etsy shop to raise money for charity.

Though I’ve been a life-long maker, I’m relatively new to the online crafting world. A little over a year ago, I found links to a few blogs from a friend–Craft Leftovers was one of them! It’s incredible that there are so many great projects, tutorials, photos and inspiration out there! I’ve learned a lot and wish there was more time in the day for all these projects.

A couple of months ago, I noticed misspellings on the Craft Leftovers blog and I asked my husband if he thought I would be a good a copy editor. Knowing me, he asked me what I had been thinking about and encouraged me to contact Kristin. The next day, I emailed her offering to edit the Craft Leftover blog. I was surprised when she took me up on my offer! I’m grateful for an opportunity to help improve something that I enjoy. It’s a small way for me to give back to the crafting community.

Kristin: Having an editor has this wonderful side benefit: Now that I know someone is checking in on me, I’ve  been writing more of my posts ahead of time and more often. I actually finished all of last week’s posts by Tuesday morning! Since she’s volunteering to do this for me, I in no way want to put her out. So I’m working to get ahead and to get my schedule together.

Thank you so much, Karen! I am looking forward to many more posts free of misspellings! It’s a pleasure getting to know you!

Happy Crafting!
Kristin
