Knit Sock Rockin’ :: Free Knit Ornament Pattern!

Mini sock ornament! My friend Carolyn has been knitting up little mini sock ornaments like a whirlwind of crafty goodness. And I have been envious. They are just so cute! So i decided that this was just the perfect thing for leftover sock yarn and wrote up my own litlte pattern for using up this bit and rockin’ around the christmas and jazzing it up a bit with little mini replicas of socks you’ve knit over the year. And best of all, it’s a sock you can finish in just 2 hours or so! and no need to worry about second sock syndrome because you only need to make one to be done with your project instead of two.

Knitting like a Knitting Machine

Knitting Machines have interested me ever since learning to knit. The speed, the ease, the speed. Is it really easy though? And is it really actually fast? Well both of those things depend on two things. What you are making and what machine you are making it on. Jason in […]

How To :: Making Butterfly Bobbins

I first learned how to make these great little bobbins in my beginning weaving class at Northern Illinois University. They are great for weaving, especially tapestry weaving, but also when working brocade on the floor loom. The thing is, they are great for knitting and crochet and pretty much any […]

How To:: Recycling Sweaters for Yarn

Shortly after I learned how to knit I read about how one could recycle a sweater for the yarn. Sweet! Cheap yarn I thought! I went to the Salvation Army and picked out a sweater I thought would be good for recycling. Huge, an XXXL, and 100% cotton. It was […]

Mossy Seeds

It is kind of one of those “oh duh, why didn’t I really know that anyway” moments that seemed kind of funny. I was talking to one of the women at the lys where I work about “what really is the difference between moss stitch and seed stitch. It’s started […]

Oopsies and Toofsies

oopsandtoofs02

I love my tréo and he loves his iTouch and we are pretty happy using our little gadgets. It’s getting pretty banged up already in my bag. This is an issue that needs some solving. So here we go, a little tréo pocket! Best of all it only takes about 25g of any sport weight yarn! Hooray for using up scraps and half skeins!

Knit Tea Cozy

I just bought a tea set from Target with some of my Christmas Money. It is a little one person set with a little red kettle, a mini tea pot, and a tea cup that fits underneath it. So cute. The tea pot does a good job of keeping my […]

Fingerless Mitten Duo

I wear my lady moss mittens on walks, outdoor excursions, going to class, etc. Basically when I know that I will be outside for more than five minutes. It’s my fingerless mittens that I wear just about everywhere else. To the store, in class, in my apartment, to the mail […]

Stripe Set

It is always so satisfying to use up stash yarn I must say. I’ve had this nondescript bundle of bulky super wash wool for quite sometime. It was given to me by a friend who was de-stashing. Known as the “Craft Leftovers Girl” I often get donations of leftovers from […]

Host Tote

I was in a bind. I wanted to do a knitting pattern, but the one I was working on was taking too long. There was no way I was going to get it finished in time. So I asked my friend Andrea if she could think of anything and immediately […]
