Home Redress: A Weekend of Projects and Moving

This past weekend my folks came up to help us move, fix things up around the house, and hang out and have a little fun. My folks went above and beyond helping us get things done around the house. Honestly, the things that they helped with would have been left undone for I don’t know how long.
How to: Make a Clothspin Bag out of Curtain

Inspired by my newly restrung clothesline holder, I made my own clothes pin bag. Start to finish this project took about 20 minutes – and that’s with the figuring out part too!
Home Redress: A new home a new series!

Before it’s always been “Apartment Redress.” Now that we are living in a house, I’ll continue the redress projects in my home. :)
First though, I want to give you an overview of the place. Today’s post is going to show what it looks like now. As we fix things up, I’ll post about it.
Redress: New Studio Check in Part 2
It’s been a month or so since I moved out of my home studio and into the office space. I decided to leave a workspace for myself at home so I could work on my painting and drawing there. Mainly my more messy crafts–dyeing, basket weaving, painting, paper making, collage, etc.–are all done at home [...]
Redress: Pillows Part II: Recycled Stuffing Material
Last week I posted about my fight with pillow stuffing and how I’ve gone on a quest to figure out what works best. Shredded Paper Shredded Fleece Plastic Bags All Sorts of stuff – bits of yarn, thread, fleece, paper, and dryer lint. After making 4 small pillows and stuffing them, I think I’ve finally [...]
Sewing Pattern: Laundry Bags
This Christmas my sister bought Jason and I some amazingly plush down pillows. We LOVE them. We have had the same crappy pillows since before we were together (5+ years for some of them, I know one in particular dates back to high school!). This was the best Christmas gift ever! They came in these [...]
Apartment Redress::Patio Set::Part II
Last week I showed you the chair and table set I have out on my patio. I really wanted to go with bright colors and patterned seat cushions, but was torn with the more practical gray and bright cushions – more timeless, more options with less hassle - want a change, just whip up some new seat [...]
Apartment Redress: Vintage Lamp Rewire Finished!
We went to the hardware store and picked up all the parts to replace every electrical related piece on this little guy + we added the feature of a snazy little clicker on the cord because “Kristin, you can’t reach the top of the frig, how are you going to turn that on?” Truer words [...]
Apartment ReDress::Kitchen Tile
Our Kitchen is pretty dull looking, from the floor to cabinets to to the ceiling. Dull. Straight up. There are some nice places to hang things, but I really don’t want to put anything paper or painting there. Or matted even because of the steam. You see there is this one spot in particular I [...]
Crafty Business :: Setting Up the Day
Having your own home based business has many challenges to it and, unfortunately there is no perfect solution to any issue. Every home situation is it’s own environment and has its own dynamic. And each home business owner has their own experiences and tendencies – both good and bad. I hope that by drawing on [...]
